Old Asgard:
Old King Thor, once a valiant Viking warrior, once one of the Earth’s mightiest heroes, the once proud and noble king of Asgard, now an old man with a single eye like his late father Odin, wrinkles covering his face; walks with his young 3 granddaughters Atli, Ellisiv, and Frigg to the sacred vault of Asgard. Old King Thor waves his hand at the Destroyer armor standing guard, deactivating it to let the family pass. His grandchildren awed; the young girls touching the sleek metal of the enchanted giant armor as they heard stories of the unbreakable guardian.
“Aye children, stay thy hands.” Thor groans.
“Why so, it’s indestructible right?” asks Alti the eldest. “There’s no way we can break it.”
“Tis not you breaking it which concerns me,” Thor notes. “The Destroyer is a weapon that you are too young to handle.”
Thor raises his bulky arm, pushing the massive grey doors open to the great vault.
Inside the Vault:
The girls are amazed by all the impressive weaponry and trophies lining the walls and displayed on old pedestals.
“What is this thing, some type of toy stick?” Ellisiv the middle child asks.
“Ah, tis an enchanted crowbar,” Thor explains. “Twas wielded by the Wrecker and his crew. One of many villains your uncle Loki sent to assault me during my stay on Midgard.”
Midgard (NYC) 1970s:
Thor vs. The Wrecking Crew…Bulldozer lowers his head ramming Thor with his flat helmet, knocking him down the block and crashing into a brick wall. Thunderball follows up, swinging a large chain with a wrecking ball tied at the end at Thor, breaking the wall and toppling the structure onto the Asgardian. Breaking free from the wreckage, Thor leaps forward, swinging Mjolnir around before slamming it down onto Bulldozer. Bulldozer counters using his helmet to block the first hit, but Thor twirls Mjolnir around and follows up with a second strike, launching Bulldozer away. Thunderball and Piledriver leap onto Thor, each restraining an arm as the Wrecker beats Thor with the enchanted crowbar. Thor grips Mjolnir and a thunderbolt strikes down, forcing Wrecker away. Thor throws the villains off him; tossing Thunderball and Piledriver into one another. Wrecker recovers, leaping in with his crowbar as it clashes against Mjolnir; shockwaves shattering windows as they collide. Thor throws Mjolnir, but Wrecker dodges it, going in to strike again.
“Is dis it,” Wrecker taunts as he beats Thor with the crowbar. “You’re supposed to be some big shot god?”
Thor ignores Wrecker’s insults, focusing on Mjolnir circling the world, building up speed until it comes back around and cracks Wrecker in the back, knocking him out.
Thor takes the crowbar, ensuring the villains are powered down and detained.
Vault – Present:
“Wow Grampa, I didn’t know the mortals were so formidable,” Ellisiv awes.
“Aye.” Thor nods. “Uncle Loki was well adept at causing me all manner of pain in our youth before he became King of Jotunheim.”
“But you could beat them no problem now, right?” Frigg, the youngest states, pumping her fists in the air as if fighting an invisible enemy.
“Forsooth. Although there are no more villains to fight as the 9 realms are now barren and quiet,” Thor sighs.
Frigg stares at a large war hammer chained to a pedestal. It glows as lightning steadily crackles around it; enchanting little Frigg to walk closer with her hands twitching to reach for it. She goes to touch it, but Thor slaps her hand away shouting Nay!
“Stay away from that accursed hammer, all of you!” Thor shouts.
“Why?” Atli asks. “It’s just a weapon, is it not meant to be wielded?”
“Not THAT hammer,” Thor glares as the war hammer dims and the lightning disperses. “As long as I live, promise me none of you will ever touch that bloody hammer.”
“I don’t understand, what’s wrong with it?” Frigg questions. “Why does it need to be chained as if it were Fenrir on Aunt Hela’s leash?”
Thor took the girls away from the hammer, before taking a deep breath.
Midgard – 2000s:
Thor vs. War-Thor…both Asgardians clash as Thor smashes Mjolnir against the war hammer of the War Thor. A massive storm grows overhead as Thor and War-Thor swing their respective hammers; each blow is accompanied by loud booms of thunder, streaks of lightning, and hurricane winds. Thor struggles to overpower War-Thor, who is engrossed in the fight and wanting nothing more than to bring war and thunder over the world.
“I am the War-Thor!! Let us bathe this world in the blood storm and christen it as our holy battlefield!”
Thor looks around, recognizing the more the fight drags on, the more damage befalls Midgard by a storm steadily encompassing the globe.
Thor backs away, tricking War-Thor into throwing his hammer at him. Enraged by his opponent trying to flee, War-Thor heaves back and hurls his hammer-axe at Thor. Before it hits, Thor calls Heimdall to open the Bifrost, teleporting the hammer-axe and Thor away to Asgard. Away from the hammer, War-Thor reverts to a normal person, who collapses to the ground, confused by what has transpired.
On Asgard, Thor struggles to contain the hammer-axe in his bare hands, feeling its power lash out at him as it demands a new host to become the War-Thor.
“I feel your power. I hear your cry for war. But you are a storm untamed, and there is no storm the God of Thunder cannot tame!”
Thor slams the war hammer to the ground, dispersing the lightning and forcing the cursed weapon to yield. He drags the weapon into the vault, tying it down with massive chains so it may never possess another mortal again.
Vault – Present:
“Promise me younglings, as the future goddesses of Asgard, you shall ensure this weapon never plagues another mortal again.”
“I’m not scared,” Frigg huffs. “I’ve got thunder in my veins, so I’ll make that hammer submit to me when I become the Goddess of Thunder.”
The girls argue over who will become the real goddess of thunder, but Thor notes they all inherited the power of the storm, and they do not need a hammer to channel their strength, just training. But yes, a hammer makes it very effective.
“Grampa, how did you know the hammer would change the host if you kept it away long enough?” Frigg asks.
“Uncle Loki used the same trick on me once when All-Father Odin put a similar spell on me.”
Thor and the children continue their walk through the vault when a massive sword grabs Ellisiv’s attention.
“Hey Grampa, what’s that big sword over there?” Ellisiv ponders, pointing at a huge weapon nearly the size of the vault itself with a faint glow of embers on the blade and an obsidian hilt.
“That’s Twilight.” Alti snarks. “That’s the sword Great Grandpa Odin won when he defeated Surtur. You’d know that if you read more.”
“I read plenty!” Ellisiv shouts.
“No, you don’t! You’re always trying to sneak meals…”
“Shut up both of you!” Thor barks. “Alti, you are partially correct. Indeed, it is the Twilight Blade of Surtur. And Odin did defeat Surtur while he wielded it, but twas my friend and I who truly slayed Surtur and took his weapon last time he invaded Asgard.”
Asgard – 30??:
Surtur and his fire demons invade Asgard with the Twilight Sword empowered by the Eternal Flame. Sif, Baldur, and Valkyrie lead Asgardian forces against the fire demons as Loki, King of Jotunheim leads reinforcements of Jotuns to assist the Asgardians; providing Thor and Bill room to combat Surtur.
King Thor, Beta Ray Bill vs. Surtur…Thor and Bill swing their respective hammers at the towering fire demon, but their attack is easily repelled when Surtur swings his mighty sword, unleashing a wall of flames upon the warriors. Together, they call forth storm clouds and summon a barrage of lightning bolts upon Surtur, cutting through him as he howls in pain. Pressing their advantage, Bill leaps at the demon, flying around the giant and slamming his hammer Stormbreaker into his arms, head, and knees. The strikes break off pieces of Surtur’s fiery flesh, but Surtur grips his weapon, channeling the Eternal Flame from within to regenerate his body. The duo pauses to catch their breath, realizing their strength may not be enough to stop Surtur now that he has the power of Ragnarok.
“Come now brother, have you not learned tact in all these years? I swear, no wonder why my lands flourish while yours are constantly under siege,” Loki snarks while joining the fray, blasting Surtur in the eyes, temporarily blinding him.
Again, Surtur grips his sword and instantly recovers.
“Did you see it,” Loki asks.
“Aye,” Bill hollers.
Thor and Bill grab hold of their hammers, leaping in to attack Surtur, lighting crackling around them. Surtur roars as he counters their hits, knocking them away again and again, but the warriors continue leaping back in to fight. Surtur growls, questioning the futility of their plan and how Asgard’s doom is at hand. Bill and Thor stand still, taunting Surtur to do his worst. Enraged, Surtur grips his blade, igniting it in a glow of fire, wielding it high above his head.
Thor and Bill appear behind Surtur, slamming their weapons into Surtur’s arms, breaking them off completely, and forcing him to drop the Twilight Blade. Loki removes the illusion of Thor and Bill taunting Surtur and opens a portal, separating Surtur from his weapon. Thor and Bill charge their hammers, blasting Surtur into Muspelheim.
With Surtur away, Thor, Loki, and Bill regroup with the others and defeat the remaining fire demons.
Vault – Present Time:
“The fire from those blasted flames burned for centuries.” Thor sighs, lowering his head.
The girls were in awe of the battle, only hearing rumors of Surtur; curious if he was still in Muspelheim. Thor remarks most likely, but without the Eternal Flame or Twilight, he has no power and no threat. If anything, Muspelheim is now a land of smoldering embers.
Nearing the end of the vault, the girls notice a large, yellow machine hanging on the ceiling. Confused, the girls ask what the weird device is: Frigg thinks it’s a warship, Ellisiv believes it’s a weapon, and Alti thinks it’s junk. Thor smirks as they are all correct, explaining it is a helicopter, piloted by the Mad Titan, Thanos.
Midgard – 2000s:
Thanos pilots a helicopter on a rampage through a city in Oklahoma. Thor casts a bolt of lightning, destroying the helicopter and grounding Thanos.
Thor vs. Thanos…Thanos breaks free from the helicopter wreckage and leaps onto Thor, quickly beating him into the ground with immense strength. Stepping off, he grabs Thor by his chest armor and flings him through the city, crashing through several buildings before rolling into the concrete streets. Thanos stomps forward, but Thor strikes back with several hard blows from Mjolnir. Thanos grins, recovering from the hits before coming back with multiple hard punches of his own.
Summoning all of his strength, Thor throws Mjolnir into Thanos’ chest, using it to rocket Thanos off-world toward the sun. Thanos maneuvers himself out of the way, sending him adrift in space. Thanos groans, citing he will get revenge on Loki for selling him a false death machine.
Vault – Present:
The girls debate how Thanos survived in space, but Thor notes that Thanos is one of the most formidable villains the galaxy has ever faced. His death did not bring lasting peace to the galaxy, but everyone was grateful he was no longer around to plague it.
“Come girls, we have reason for being in this vault now.” Thor gathers his granddaughters together. “Now, where should we place this piece?”
“Hm, how about near the Avenger’s wall?” Alti suggests.
“No no, near the Asgardian armors.” Ellisiv points.
“No, next to great-grampa Odin’s helmet.” Frigg gestures.
“Aye, I like that idea Frigg.” Thor agrees.
Thor walks over to Odin’s large great antler helmet and shifts it over a bit to make room for Loki’s long-horned helmet. Thor stares at the helmet that once belonged to his brother, lowering his head as it becomes another artifact in the vault. Frigg crawls up Thor’s cape onto his shoulders, Alti grabs his right hand, Ellisiv his left, and they turn to walk out of the vault.
“Grampa, can we hear another story of you and Uncle Loki,” Alti asks.
“Of course, how about the time Uncle Loki enchanted the man of stilts to step on me to death.”
